Will 4Front be producing OSS v3.9 binaries compatible with the latest Linux Kernels or will v3 users be forced (kicking & screaming) to upgrade to v4.2?

Unfortunately there's too much mucking around with the sndshield.c file to get it working for Linux 3.0 kernels. Is there any reason to use OSS 3.9?

Probably not. Had a mixer applett (pnmixer) which was crashing and wanted to drop back to earlier oss as a quick check to see if the crash was related to pulse audio's use of the oss api or whether it's a Linux 3.x issue. It is a maintained app. so I'll check with the maintainer.
