Open Sound System for HPUX 10.20 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 19, 1999 Culver City, CA -- 4Front Technologies is announcing the first beta test release of the Open Sound System sound drivers for HP-UX 10.20. These drivers will support consumer grade soundcards from Creative Labs like the Sound Blaster PCI64 and PCI128 and Ensoniq AudioPCI ES1370 based clones and professional grade audio cards from RME Audio like the Digi32 and Prodif (by Sek'd). Open Sound System is the "de-facto" audio architecture for UNIX and Linux running on Intel x86 architecture. It has a large number of applications for digital audio, MIDI synthesis and mixing. HP-UX users will be able to simply recompile Linux audio applications and run it on OSS. OSS also supports Sun's Devaudio interface which can be used to playback Java Audio applications.
