			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Finally, OSS v4.0 is here. Its taken some time, and now we have a truly advanced audio system with the industrial quality and ease of use.  With OSS it&#8217;s very easy to play DVDs with 5.1 surround sound, run Doom3, run Skype or play MP3s via XMMS, concurrently. You don&#8217;t need to mess around with any sound setup scripts or need to shut down one application before starting the other. With OSS, each app gets its own volume control.</p>
<p>Many more things are yet to come in OSS v4.0, the effects and equalizer in softoss, MIDI and the synthesizer support. All these features will come out this year.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s been quite a lot to handle for us as a small company, but we have some good illustration of what cross-platform support means. With the right ideas and design, incredible things are possible.</p>
